We went up the ski hill this week as we have had no snow this year. No snow. All winter. In Canada.
So we went up to the cross-country area of our ski hill and took up a sled and Mr. M. He seemed to enjoy the afternoon - some climbing about, some sledding, some pink noses!

malcolm needs to work on NOT eating the play-doh.
Just now as I try to work and Jim and Mal sit here beside me playing with teh doh, Malcolm covers his eyes with one arm and then slowly lifts the other hand with some green play-doh so he can lick/bite it. I just lol’d so hard. That is right, if he can’t see us then we can’t see him eating.
HA!

Ready?
Washer and dryer stack on one another. Dryer on top.
They fit into a hall/nook at the bottom of our stairs - walls on either side. About a hand (5 inches?) of space between each side and each respective wall.
They are tall. When I stand on a chair, the top of the dryer is at my chin level.
Dryer venting is ripped. Something fell off the back and tore it.
How do we get back there?
They are attached to each other at the back. We cannot lift the dryer off the washer. BUT they are not attached SO MUCH that they wouldn’t snap if we just tried to lay them down flat (the dryer will kind of hinge upward if we lift it - there is just a bracket at the back).
We can’t just pull them out. The walls go up to our stairs. There is a door (to basement suite), but we just tried to get them to that junction and the water connections just about ripped out.
We can’t fit in beside them.
Can’t slide them up far enough.
Can’t lift one off the other.
We tried to send Rupert back there with the new vent, but he was very CAT about the whole thing.
Ideas?

While Mal climbed the stairs/seats in the kid’s section of the library, I stood and started looking at the shelves. How had I forgotten about YA books? As I stood there I pulled out five books to bring home.
And, like a $20 in a winter jacket long forgotten but then found - I looked up to see a Robin McKinley I didn’t even know existed. Chalice. I read it in two days. Two days of wanting to read and read and read.. but then also wanting to stop as I saw the pages coming closer and close to the end. With her books I make a note of the last page of text so I’m not crushed when it is over. So I’m ready.
You know what I love the most about this very beautiful fun book? Not once did it go on about how she (the heroine) looked. It went on about her bees and the different kinds of honey she had. It talked about her family. It talked about her cottage and her furniture. But nothing about how she looked - because that didn’t matter.
SO GOOD!
I have also got here an Ursula K Le Guin by the name of Powers. I will keep you posted. As we’re all home sick with the stomach flu, lots of reading time. Thank the sweet baby jesus for that PVR thing we bought last week. It, too, is awesome. But in a very different non-high culture kind of way. In a “I recorded project runway, top chef masters, and BONES to watch tomorrow” kind of way.
And it is my mom’s birthday today! Happy Birthday Mom!
