Preludes And Nocturnes

Me time

October 25th, 2009

Jim has pretty much done total Malcolm duty since he got home on Thursday night.  Mom took Malcolm for some time this morning, but the main point here is that I’m all about the cards.  And that I couldn’t be doing this without them.

I have an artisan show at the end of November and I want to take about 350 cards.  As of Thursday I had 70.  My dad was kind enough to point out that I needed five times that amount.  Thanks dad…

As of this afternoon, I now have 125 cards and I still have the rest of today to keep chugging along.  Right now I’m working on getting everything planned, cut, and stamped so that I can put them into piles and then use my weeknights to assemble.  It is tough during the week to pull everything out, but if I can this might mean I have an easy “hour task” to do after Mal’s bedtime/dishes done/ ready for next day.

I’m putting together a custom Christmas card style today. I will post it along with a few others this week so you all can see (and let me know if anyone is interested in any cards - I’ll sell them at 4 for $10 plus s/h).

And here, auntie Leone got some good pics of the beeb:

Stairs have been cleaned up, I’ve grabbed what I can from the garden (bulbs, big plants, etc), and bids are in with insurance.  But yeah, kinda threw off my week a bit.

Nobody hurt, the fellow left his truck running up the street and it decided to come for a visit.  He’s pretty lucky it didn’t hit the house or a person - the hill really takes off after our house.

Crafting Goodness!

October 8th, 2009

I’m rather proud of myself. I wanted to make the gift for my friend’s daughter’s 2nd birthday, and I came up with a felt board and flowers.

I made extra so I have a full board for Malcolm as well and enough to probably do another board or two.  The other moms at the party were all really sweet and said I should sell these online as they’ve not seen them for years.  It was really nice of them.

Four-Eyes!

October 2nd, 2009

I had my first appointment today to get fitted for braces.  Yep.  How bizzaro is that?

So if everything carries on as planned I will get the x-rays and what not done in two weeks, final consultation first week of Nov, 4 teeth extracted (I wasn’t expecting that part but I guess that’s the physics of it all) the same week, and braces about 2 or 3 weeks later.

I am getting braces, finally, because my benefits at work cover 65% so if I’m going to do it….

Right?

*eeek*

Side note - my braces will cost more than my remaining Gov’t Canada Student loan.  Feck.
