Need to blog more!
But too much going on to have time to blog. For real. Sheesh, how annoying!
The most exciting news is that Jim surprised me with an email saying he had changed his NYC return ticket from early September to later in October! I have him here for another five weeks longer than I had planned.
It made me cry. (the happy cry)
My new office is not ready yet. Something about where the other guy has to move to and facilities and then my office needing a new sprinker.
I offered to take a spray bottle in with me and monitor it myself, but no. So I have one more week sqatting in my old office. Which I don’t mind at all, but delays the putting up of wall hangings and buying of plants. Knowing I have another week and knowing I’ll not get time to settle before the insanity of first week of classes, I’m prepping my audit sheets and files best I can from my old office. I really like my new job. It was a very stressful week with two major issues for students coming up, but I solved them both in favor of the students. I got thankful phone calls, emails, and a hug. I felt really good about what got done.
But exhausted.
And coupled with some other unrelated job/career stress [let’s just say a dream job being offered… wrapped in the craziest conditions that pretty much made it untakable - but close enough (and dream job enough) that I really really had a tough decision] it led to my right shoulder migrating up to live by my right ear. I couldn’t look over my left shoulder due to my neck being so tight. Jim was kind enough to work out some knots for me, and I’m taking some good drugs. Should be better soon as I’ve made the decision.
Finally, bought some awesome groceries today. I’ve gone ahead and embraced some pre-fab type foods. Not my usual style, but I had bought a couple things at work lately (boo!) so decided time to work a few easy lunch options into the mix. Yep. Granola bars and little unsweetened applesauces.
Living life on the edge.

I don’t have to ask permission to go pee.
I didn’t necessarily have to ask before, but you know how it is when you know somebody is keeping track of things like that? And I can go get tea whenever I want. And this week I’ll move to my new office and get my own plants and wall hangings.
I’m so freaken excited!

Yes it was. Lots of great people, tonnes of great food, and it was so excellent to see everyone. Jim and I have spent the last two days getting in some more visits. We’ve seen friends in Kelowna, grandparents in Armstrong, and friends in town here tonight.
I ended up wearing my new yummy brown pants (bought in Kelowna the other day at FULL PRICE with another pair in brown with pinstripes and cuffs in Petite so no hemming and losing the cuff) with my beautiful brilliant blue with brown kerchief inspired top and my turquoise and gold beaded necklace.
Jim and I looked stunning (he wore his camel pants with a nice golf shirt as it was HOT and long sleeves were not an option). The flow was excellent with people coming and going, and despite our statement it was not expected, many presents were stacked by the table. So very nice of people.
Guest book was signed, pictures and announcements were taken as keepsakes.
We have been eating the leftovers with gusto and are down to six slices of cake remaining (not counting the wedge we’ll take home for Leone). Hooboy, did we have food!

Which means I’ve eaten too much and haven’t blogged for DAYS upon DAYS!
Been having a lovely time at mom and dad’s. Tomorrow is our open house and the back porch is painted and scrubbed, walkways swept, everything tidied. And the food. Did I mention the food?
We have homemade quiche, nuts and bolts, humus, zucchini squares, spinach dip, deviled eggs (devilled?). We have bought crackers, tortilla chips, fresh salsa, fruit punch. Picking up tomorrow meat and cheese tray, cake, multi-grain buns, sourdough, coffee (in a fancy huge urn), and so on.
I think we have the food under control.
Now I just need to figure out what I’m wearing. Still under debate as I didn’t buy a new bra so the white dress is out of the question.
Talk to you all soon,
j.

Jim and I pretty much got half our album done last night. I have found out in this process that I’m a little anal about how to make the album. I want the pictures to run chronologically. I want them to tell the story. I want them to flow well between colour, black and white, and sepia. I want, at the least, for the two on any page to face the same way. And, even better, for all four to face the same way.
I think I did quite well. But it did make Leone comment “I’m really glad you didn’t have a huge wedding. This is evident right now.”
Hmmph.

I certainly pass on the job mojo to whomever needs it next - sounds like Jill is up first on Tuesday!
What a great weekend - and still one more day to go! WHOO for long weekends!
Here’s my current desktop image. This was the view from our room at Arenal volcano. The resort was Lost Igauana. Our room was great, the resort itself was a little too “swim-up bar in the pool” for us.

Jim and I have managed to put together our 100 pictures from the wedding and honeymoon to print up ourselves, parents, and for our reception album. We also selected our favorite five pictures to mail out with our announcements and to hand out to guests at the reception.
We’re thinking of just including two with each annoucement and then having a selection at the reception. We went to Costco this evening and ordered them all (at one of those digital self-serve Kiosks) for .18cents each!! WHOO again! This is one we’re giving out.
We actually have 50 photos from the wedding printed up from our photographer, but here’s the kicker - he does his in 5×7s rather than the smallest version 4×6. Nice to have the bigger photos except that the price for us to print off at that size is a fair bit more so to top off the already printed 50 with another 50 is a little pricey. Not to mention we’re having a heck of a time finding a nice (er, and well priced) album to put them in. Most albums are either 4×6 or scrapbooking types (meh) for $35 and upwards.
Blah blah blah. All in all, it is cheaper for us to make a whole album for ourselves of 100 4×6 pics than to top up our photographer pictures to make 100. Weird.
But whatever, the 50 pics were kinda a bonus with the package. We might just slowly give away the 5×7s to strangers or grocery clerks or something.

I interviewed yesterday from 9-10. I rocked the interview, really and truely. It couldn’t have gone better. But with that said, I am not counting no stinking chickens before hatched. Ya know what I mean.
It this job is given out based on who is best suited to it - I have it. If it is based on something else, what’s a girl to do?
So slightly meh day as I wait and try not to wait.
xox
PS. Hopefully Laura’s job mojo will rub off on me! Congrats to my sweet friend, she worked very hard and stuck with it even when having to do more testing for this new job and more interviews and all that crap!

I keep thinking “oh, I need to get a better shot of the bedroom to show the new furniture” - but at a certain point I just need to post a picture so there is something to see.
This is the new bed, with bedside table on the far side and unseen tall dresser on this side. My white dresser is still by the door and my little anique green low dresser is in the unseen top right corner.
This is also a new way to situate the bedroom with the bed under the window. Before it had been against the far wall with a bit of space between the window wall and the left side of the bed. We quite like this set-up - Thanks Melly for the suggestions and the help the day of delivery.
Yay!
