Preludes And Nocturnes

Overtime.

April 27th, 2006

Yup. So I’m kinda out of here for a little. Class starts next week and will be two nights for three hours. I’m pretty much prep’d for the first week thanks to input from Leone and Jim. I started overtime at my day job today. That will carry on for the next two weeks as two of us try and process upwards of 700 applications for graduation and their degree audits. I’m actually going in on Sunday. The other woman asked if I had to go to church or anything and I kinda considered it for a moment.

*hee*

Why yes, I worship at the alter of CSI reruns on Spike TV and maybe a vanilla soy latte while sprawled on the couch.

Have I mentioned Leone is pretty much doing all the house stuff? I’m usless at that right now.

Okay, going into work at 6:30 am tomorrow morning for overtime before work. I figured I can get up at ten to six… yes? If I arrange my clothes so I can slide right into them. Didn’t Calvin (and Hobbes) try and do that once so he could get up 60 seconds before the bus arrived?

On the woohoo side: I did my own taxes in less than an hour last night and then phoned them in tonight. Cool beans.

And I told the tutor girl that was our last session on Tuesday and stuck to it.

And I bought some new pretty summer tops so I wouldn’t have to think to get dressed for the next week or so.

Evenings and Weekends

April 22nd, 2006

That is when I’m trying to get all that other stuff done. Really, it is quite strange to have a job that keeps me working all day and then sometimes also through my breaks and sometimes also through part of my lunch. But to be fair, I then take that extra ten mintues on the end of my lunch to make up for it. They are not bastards, it is just busy with students coming in and needing help with understanding degree requirements, course selection, and graduation information.

So I still really like my job, but have found it tough to get other stuff done. Evenings are yoga, working out, talking to my husband, talking to my friends like dear sweet Laura, replying to emails (I kinda suck as much at that as the blogging of late), dinner with friends, helping friends move, drinks after work with co-workers, finishing finding articles for my class reading package, and resending the list of pictures to the photographer for printing with the right numbers this time.

And that was a four day week.

I have a list for this weekend and am shocked to just find out that tonight is SATURDAY night and I now only have tomorrow to complete my list of things.

*doh*

I am home.

April 17th, 2006

And the ride back was fairly straight forward. I was going to say it was also quieter as I was on my own for the trip home - but it was actually louder. Since I was alone. Because that mean I CRANKED the music and sang for about seven hours non-stop.

Okay, two stops. Gas station and pee break stop. Timmy’s Iced cap and pee break stop.

If anyone is keeping track: I am convinced I’m now ready to perform as any member of Phantom of the Opera, Tori Amos (early years), Melissa Etheridge, The BEE GEES, Oh Suzanna, and INXS (Kick!).

In other news:

  • I am almost done my syllabus.
  • I ordered the TOTALLY wrong wedding pictures as my computer renumbered when it ripped them.
  • I think it is okay though as I emailed them in time. I think. I’ll let you know.
  • Since arriving home I have swiffered, done the garbages, kitties watered, plants watered, vacuumed, had soup, started laundry.
  • I miss my mom and dad. (And sister, but she’ll be back here soon)
  • The cats have totally mauled me and only stopped because the mauling made them sleepy.
  • I’m thanking various Powers That Be it is a 4 day work week as the laundry might not be cutting it this week.

This is about it.

Frazzled

April 14th, 2006

Who ever decided to put a freaken lame-ass BLIZZARD 20min into our drive down to the parents’ place and make a 50min section of highway take us close to two hours with me losing control of the car no less than three times on about 6-8inches of unplowed snow with pretty-much white-out conditions and me making the final bit with my hazzards on and in second gear… can bite my ass.

Funny enough, from there on the rest of the drive was fine (all 6hrs of it) with some snow and hail for a bit but clear-enough roads and then sun and wind for the last bit. But nothing in comparison to that first leg of the journey that had me telling poor sister than I wouldn’t be able to continue on in that storm and we’d have to get a hotel in NOWHERELAND. So much less fun than mom and dad’s house. With the veggie lasagna in the oven as I type.

And yes, there are flowers blooming and green grass here. Almost like my time from 7:20-9am this morning never happened.

*sigh*

Weekends and Evenings

April 12th, 2006

So I’ve been working on a few things on my weekends and evenings. One of which is the syllabus for this course I’m teaching on Feminism and Pop Culture (starts in May).

I realized today that I really just want to show them tv shows and movies the whole time. I don’t they’d complain, but I think there would be some issues taken within the department with that particular plan.

So today I found some articles to go along with the tv shows and movies. I’m just deciding on the weekly themes we’ll cover. This class sound cool. I kinda wish I were taking it.

Oh, wait….

Like Crack, or Chocolate

April 9th, 2006

Addictive, that it is.

Showing people our wedding site. Looking at the guest book. Having people stop me at work and tell me how beautiful it is.

I got to show a friend today and she got tears in her eyes. So then I got tears in my eyes. Then we sat there ohhiing and aaaahhhhing. I could do that daily. I want to stop random people in the street and show them the page. I would carry around my laptop and a huge extension cable and just show them all. Oh, or set up a little table at the end of the driveway, like lemonaid, and charge people .25cents a viewing.

Yeah, I would totally do that.

There may be a 12 step in my near future.

Super Melly: Pasty Sale

Super Melly: Pasty Sale

I know some of you here were interested in Miss Melly’s Website. If you send her a note, I’m sure you could ask about international shipping.

Can’t be bothered to cook a meal

April 8th, 2006

So I end up eating some yogurt out of the carton, opening a tin of smoked oysters and having some of those, and then eating half a mango.

I am slightly unimpressed with myself and feeling like I need an actual plate of normal food.

I really do much better when others are in the house and then I cook for them too rather than this silly single item eating.

In other news, I’m grumpy as my car went in to get brakes and will be returned later today with brakes and two new tires and new wheel bearings and new clean oil and some other stuff that all in all will end up costing more than my wedding dress.

If that is how we want to track things right now.

And Now the Choices..

April 1st, 2006

So I have pretty much uploaded all my pics to flickr. Anyone here who hasn’t got the link yet, let me know - but I think I’ve covered most bases now.

And at this point I need to somehow pick out my top 50 pics. Part of the package is 50 5×7s printed off by the photographer.

For those of you looking and having opinions on the photos, please let me know which ones you like the best :)
