Preludes And Nocturnes

Hi All!

First off, both Jim and I arrived safe and sound last night in Costa Rica. We were met at the airport by two of the resort staff who brought us up here (up up up in the mountains!) to the resorti.

The place is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Our Villa is huge and unique and amazing. All curving lines and wood and art. We have a sitting area, a table, a desk, a bedroom nook with everything opening up to the outside with sliding glass doors. A veranda that overlooks the city lights of San Jose below with the mountains all around. We can hear the birds all day and all night and the little lizards run as we walk down the trails. Our bathroom has an open tiled shower that essentially walks out to our other terrace (er, how weird it is to shower next to a sliding glass door and no real break between me and the rest of the bathroom?) and there are plants and trees and fruit trees everywhere.

We got up this morning to our breakfast and the dining room - open terrace with the view. Both Jim and I piled our plates high with slices of mango, pineapple, papaya and fresh local cheeses. They also make these little tiny muffins with molasses and cornmeal, I think.

We then went for a walk along some of the paths and saw the two swimming pools. Then we went for a swim, had lunch, went for a hike to the waterfalls, went for another swim, and now we just finished dinner. The food is wonderful and the people are great.

Did I mention the fruit? And the fruit juice??

Ahhhhh!

So tomorrow is the big day. The details seem in place and we are feeling very relaxed about everything. We hope it goes well, but we are also just going with the flow here. Everyone is very excited about the wedding (my dress made it here just fine). So I guess that is the jist of it all.

We are getting married tomorrow at 4pm which is actually 2hrs off West Coast time - so 2pm in most of BC.

First off, thanks everyone for the kind words. They were very helpful throughout the day yesterday as I finished up my last day at work. And I must say, by last night I was certainly feeling a lot more in control of things.

So now it is 8:30am and I have until 6pm or so to get the last few things done. Feeling good. I’m pretty much packed with half my suitcase empty (I know that I always find half a suitcase worth of things in my final two hours before travel *rolleyes*). This morning I’m going to the bank, the gym, and the drug store. That will take care of my ‘out of house’ tasks. My mom is driving up today to spend some time with my sister this coming week, so I’ll get to see her for a few hours before I leave which is so cool. I fly to van tonight and then fly out to Costa Rica tomorrow morning.

I wish I could transport you all there, but I’ll be sure to remember as much about the wedding as I can. If I don’t blog again later today *hugs* and *kisses* to all!!!

Here it is. It has been building. It is the pity post.

I just don’t know how I’m going to get it all done. Tonight I got the new suitcase (I told you my suitcase got broke right?) and got some nice new eyeshadow.

Which has now freaked me out. I got the good stuff. A duo and a single for accent. And now I’m freaked that was way too much money to spend on eyeshadow.. no, let me rephrase - IT WAS. Full stop. But I did it anyway because I wanted something nice and special for my wedding make-up as I am going to do it myself. The woman is going to give me a free make-over tomorrow night (no time tonight) so I can see how to best apply it.

After various running arounds, I got home tonight at 10:10pm. I work all day tomorrow. I still haven’t started packing and it is 10:26pm. I think I need to do laundry. I haven’t eaten dinner yet. I leave saturday night for Vancouver. And I just keep thinking that by saturday night I need to have gathered everything I need to gather.

Oh, and I need to write up my syllabus for my Spring session course before I go.

I’m not quite sure what to do at this point.

If anyone is in the mood to come and pack my suitcase tomorrow while I’m at work.. or do my laundry.. or my syllabus?

And I know there is a limited amount of boohooing allowed when flying off to Costa Rica to get married, but I do believe you all understand I’m feeling a bit frazzled at this particular moment.

I really hope that by tomorrow evening I’ll feel a bit more in control of this randomness I’m feeling right now. I think I’ll try and do a preliminary packing tonight so I might just feel that is becoming more done.

I have to link you to my friend’s new store. And I can say I have already seen the wares and have some of my very own!

So very very weird. I don’t get to surf the web. Not due to any restrictions, I just don’t have time! I don’t have time to visit the BG, blog, bride websites, etc!

It is really strange. I do stuff all day long. All week I have taken my thank-you notes to school to try and get them done on one of my breaks (as I seem to keep doing this whole “sleeping” thing once I get home at night after talking to Jim). I have not yet had the chance to get them even started!

And the thank-you notes are for the presents I got at my Shag Party! How sweet was that? I really am amazed at this whole getting presents thing. I don’t know why, I just am. I got a Lush gift box, a Stagette Board Game (that we played that night with the group), a pottery sushi plate with four soya sauce dishes, a gift card for this cool kitchen store, a gift card for The Bay, and a set of four beautiful wine glasses.

The food. Oh the food! Cheeses and meatballs and flatbread (no yeast!) and fruit and homemade dim sum - oh my!

On the wedding front, dress is in my closet. Picked it up today from the shop where she did the bustle. Hair is booked, photographer, cake, dinner, all seems good. Jim picked up the rings and we’re printing off all our confirmations and quotes. I need to get some new make-up (tomorrow night?) and pack. I think this is about it now. I have two evenings left here in town and then some time on Saturday. Each night this week I’ve managed to take care of at least one item, so it is starting to pay off in the reduced size of my list.

Although last night I found out my suitcase is broken from my last trip. Bummer. I hope to stop off at the Bay tomorrow and find a new one the right size. The ones I have left here are the tiny kind that won’t quite work. I need one medium bag to check (trying to take minimal stuff with me) and then my dress is my one and only carry-on. That is a little *eep* as I might just have to put it into the overhead bins, but I’ll try and sweet talk it into the Flight Attendant closet.
